| Jonathan Knipscher (www.jonathanknipscher.com) is a freelance costume designer based out of New York City. He recently designed costumes for the Georgia State University production of Carmen, directed by Kay Paschal-Freeman. Other opera credits include: Our Town by Ned Rorum (University of Nebraska-Lincoln) Madama Butterfly, Falstaff, and Il Matrimonio di Segreto (La Musica Lirica - 2009). Further costume design credits include: Fathers and Sons (Lions Theatre - Off Broadway), Little Shop of Horrors, Violet, Johnny Guitar, Boy Gets Girl, Tales of the Allergist’s Wife (The Theater Barn in New York), Kiss Me, Kate and The Odd Couple (Bay View Music Festival in Michigan); additional costume design for A Christmas Carol, Room Service (Kansas City Repertory in Missouri); assistant costume design for Dreamgirls (Gilbert & Sullivan Society in Bermuda), Beauty and the Beast (Zilker Theatre in Austin, Texas). Mr. Knipscher has an MFA in Costume Design and Technology from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. In addition to design, he is the assistant costume supervisor for the men’s chorus at the Metropolitan Opera, where he works on over 25 full operas a season. | |
